Picked up a 2003 XR6 ute with the hard cover just over a month ago
I have noticed it has started to bow along the sides, just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if there is anything I can do about it, its not too bad it just dosnt look nice and flat anymore.
Cheers
Veilspade.

bowing and warping of the ford genuine factory hard cover is unfortunately a very common problem due to poor construction.
you can try your luck taking it back under warranty (if covered).
im certain this is why the hard cover is now optional on even the pursuits and tornado due to the unreliability.
i know for a fact that ford is looking elsewhere for the hard covers to be made as their current manufacturer is obviously not performing.
I hear you. The cover on my ute has formed depressions where the gas struts mount onto a plate on the underside of the cover. Stands out like dog's nuts (esp. as ute is black)
Yeah mine has the same depressions where the struts attach, there's a bulge in the middle and the rear corners have begun to curl up making it hard to lock and unlock as I really need to lean all my weight on it to get the key to turn...
Apparently all this comes about from leaving the car in the sun which also explains why it has different levels of bowing on hot days versus cooler days.
I'm in the right frame of mind to ask for a refund.. if my bonnet warped because I parked in the sun they'd replace it, and if it's an optional extra that can be removed they (as far as I'm concerned) should be able to give me a refund.
I think I'll call my dealer later today and have a chat.

Hey Falkeen, AWC make hard covers dont they? Do they guarantee that the covers wont warp, cause I was looking at getting a ford genuine hard cover, but will look elsewhere now...

we are still working on the plug to take the mould from, will still be a couple months before it is available but definately worth the wait.
as they will be constructed correctly they will NOT have the same problems as the genuine one.
we will also be using much better locks than the factory one and have a few other special features.
