frown 1997 Ford ka - ticking problems

Hiya,
ok i recently purchased (2 weeks ago) a ford Ka. After driving it for about 500miles a ticking noise became noticable through all gears and speeds. after another hundred miles it was an incrediably loud ticking noise. When i got home i pulled the rocker cover off an inspected the valve clearences, most werent 2 bad but one was very loose indeed. After tightening them all up correctly, she sounds perfect, well for atleast 100miles or so. now the ticking noise has come back... not as loudly as last time but its deffiantly there. Its more intermitant now though unlike last time

I've heard these engine a generally pretty noisy and rattly, but does ths sound normal?? or should i pull the rocker cover off again...

Cheers fort any help
Joe

Sounds like the cam train is on its way out, maybe cheaper to get a used engine fitted.

Only by stripping the cam and followers out. These are renowned for cam problems.
