2001 Ford Fiesta Flight MOT failure

Hi,

I put a track rod end on for my MOT retest but it failed again on the track rod that goes into the steering rack, apparently you can get just these and not a whole steering rack,

Has anyone done this before??

Are they easy(ish) to do??

thanks

Not really sure what your talking about , track rod ends are fitted to end of steering rack and connect to stub axle . Straight forward to change if that is what they failed it on .Unless it has failed for excessive play inside rack which is a different ball game or for intermediate shaft which goes from column to steering rack

No, on these fiesta you can buy the trackrod, which screws into the steering rack and the track rod end screws onto it like any other car.

I was just wondering if anyone has done one before?

I have fitted / replaced many, many t/rod ends on numerous makes of cars .I gather you are talking about the tie rod which fits onto track rod end and passes through rubber gaiter onto rack ? If so , yes I have replaced them quite often though nowadays you will probably find that it is cheaper , quicker , safer to fit a recon rack from the many suppliers available especially if you have never overhauled a rack before .
