frown 2003 Ford Fieasta coolant

hi,
I drive a 2003 Fiesta LX since few months (I bought it from FordDirect). The coolant level is just above the ‘MIN’ marking. Ford recommends using coolant meeting specification WSS-M97 B44-D but how do I know the coolant I’m buying (say, from the local gas station) falls that category? And how frequent I should change and/or top-up? Is any one out here to help?

Thanks in advance,

Re: 2003 Ford Fieasta coolant

i used to change the coolant every two years in my previous car & i used bottled water (de-ironised water), if it requires topping up offen i would look for a leak, which normally show up as a white deposit around the leak.
reganding the spec number, i would look into what type of coolant that is eg "is it ethylene glycol based? or not?" if it ethylene glycol based than you know what type too look for, you could try your main ford dealer & ask a few questions.

In my opinion, as long as you use coolant instead of water ,even for topping up, you most propably won't have any leak problem at all for many years.
