Greetings I am seeking thoughts on cruise control for my 2013 Fiesta S. I explored two options, one an aftermarket product from Rostra and through my Ford dealer.
The dealer led me down the path that my Fiesta should have the components needed and that I just needed a steering wheel with the controls and that they just then need to activate it via programming. This route was less expensive and it was the dealer so I went with their recommendation. When they put the wheel on and then tried to program it they said it came back with "programming not available". Luckily I can return the wheel but I am still out $150 for the attempted install which could have made a healthy dent in the aftermarket install so I am a tad grumpy. During the initial estimate I got the feeling that they had not done this before so now I am wondering if it never should have got to the point that it did. I guess my questions are:
1) should my dealer have known that this wouldn't work or was there a different process that should have been taken that could have avoided me throwing $150 out the window?
2) was my dealer initially correct in that the components are there and that all i needed was the new steering wheel, they just didn't know how to program it correctly? I would much rather have the official Ford cruise, but if that is not possible then the aftermarket solution is my route.
Your thoughts are much appreciated!
