confused Axle whine??

Hi, Just bought a new T reg Ka drove it home and it drives really well apart from the funny noise seeming to come from under the floor, its definatly coming from, behind me so not engine and no louder when i open windows but the noise seems to get higer the higer speed i go changing gears makes no difference. Ive been told it could be axle whine or something with the wheel bearings? any ideas? and how would it be fixed? how much? Poor student low funds. thanks

Re: Axle whine??

Got a similar noise on ours but it's not a whine more of a rumble , and it gets worse with more people in the car.I think it's rear wheel bearings , gonna take a look this week.

Re: Axle whine??
