Well, what can i say. Over the last couple weeks i have been running around getting quotes from various spray shops i have realised they are all dodgey pricks that think just because im only 19 and still young that i have no idea.
My friend Brendan owns a 1998 civic coupe, he sent it to a place called marties to get a complete respray. Cost him 6 and a half thousand dollars, absolutely top job.
So i got a quote from marties for my guards and mirrors, it was roughly the same as the other places so i thought what the heck they did a great job on the civic ill go there.
The guy that gave me the quote was very nice and helpful, but when i went to drop the car in on monday the boss talked to me and he was a complete and utter prick, so much that i almost drove off.
I wanted to know exactly what they were going to do and i wanted to let them know that im very fussy with paint and if it isnt done right i will know and i wont be happy at all, he was a complete smart ass to me and yet i was very polite the whole time.
He told me that respraying the guard would be a waste of time, i told him im paying for a service that i want done and if it wasnt do-able i would go somewhere else. then he goes yeah mate i think we can handle it (sarcasticaly) we do all the cars for ford and bmw..
Anyway today i went to pick it up at their request... wait till you read this....
Firstly when i was walking upto the car it looked fantastic. i walked to the mirrors and i was shocked. They hadnt undercoated the mirrors and had just sprayed red over the original black plastic. the black was shining through the paint.... :wnc: plus there was a big phat scratch in the paint on the mirrors.
At this stage i was already PISSED OFF, i then inspected the guard. they had matched the colour fairly well but there were scratches along the flare of the guard.
There was overspray all over my front bumper and bonnet, and i had specificaly asked the boss if there was going to be any over spray on my car or if they were going to cover the car to avoid this and he once again assured me they could handle it, i think im lucky i removed my front right hub cap prior to them painting otherwise it would have paint all over it aswell.
Another thing i noticed about the front guard was that it seemed asthough 4 or 5 specs of dirt had clogged into the paint whilst drying and had been removed, as a result dimples were left in the paint.
At this point i was about to unleash my mighty foot of death on these freaking incompetent assholes, but once again restrained myself as i walked into the office to talk to the boss. He came out and i pointed everything out and gee didnt the whole situation turn, a smart ass the day before saying they could handle it changed to silence awaiting the wrath of my backhand across his wog chops. He said they would redo it and it will be ready tommorow.
If its not done well i really dont know what i should do next.
