Bonnet not opening??? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Just wondering if any Fiesta owners are having problems with their engine bay not opening? It happened to me once when i was at Supercheap auto and we wanted to change the globes on the front, but i wasnt able to pop the bonnet, so we couldnt change the globe. Went to the nearest ford dealer, who said the cable might have broken, so he said to book it in for a check up. I went to my local dealer, and all the guy did was apply pressure on the bonnet while i opened the latch, and it opened... he adjusted some twisty thing in the engine bay to make the bonnet close lower... but it ment that the bonnet isnt straight with the side panels... and then today i went to open the bonnet to do some engine mods to my car (suggested by Mitch_LX), and it wouldnt open! ARH!!!!!!!

Anyone else experiencing same probs?

Yes i have the same problem, Firstly have you ever removed your headlights?
If you have they arnt properly adjusted, you will see 3 screws holding each light, id suggest you take it to your ford dealer or any local mechanics who do good headlight allignments and ask them to realign your lights. also when they say its done close your bonnet and then try to reopen it, if its at all difficult to open then they havent done their job properly because the lights are getting in the way of the bonnet working properly!!
I have also had it when ive had to get my brother to apply a small amount of force on the bonnet whilst i pull the open latch thing.
The uneven bonnet happened to me aswell when i took my car to ford for its first service last month and asked them to do a headlight allignment, they moved that "scewy thing" with the rubber ontop and this caused the bonnet to sit lower and not open at all. you just unscrew it untill the bonnet is level once again.

But when the bonnet is level... it decides to not open.... getting annoyed with it

Its all to do with the position of the lights. even ford cant get it right.
Is there any hope?? no... lol

I dont think it has to do with the lights.... i think its those rubber screw things that raise or lower the level the bonnet closes to... they are located just above the lights.... check em out... you can turn it one way to lift it.. and the other to make it lower

yeah the screw thingos with rubber might have something to do with it but i found that the lights do aswell.
Are your headlights alligned properly?

on the wall is different to when your driving. is there even coverage of light on the road. is one headlight to high or low on the road etc.
Mine are a little out, and my bonnet still sometimes is hard to open. hope i can sort it out

lights look fine when im driving... and they have that adjustment leveling button, so they have good coverage.....

Had a go at a wrx today.
twas a bug eyed MY02, stock and automatic.
going up through pacific highway.
He came up beside me and if i sped up he did the same. i shifted down into 3rd and planted it, he planted it aswell and for a few seconds we were even untill he started hitting nice boost. he gained on me and after about 10 seconds was about 4 or 5 meters in front of me.
i think the fiesta went quite well up against the scooby, im proud of it
