Engine number location help

I bought a KA as Cat C salvage, sent off for the log book and had all the required repairs carried out. The DVLA sent me a letter informing me I had to put the car through a VIC to ensure the car I have aquired matches the DVLA's records.

On the form to apply for a VIC appointment from the VOSA, it asks for the engine number. Now I don't know where the engine number is located and it is driving me mental. I don't think it is on the VIN plate as the ford TIS CD-Rom doesn't mention it on the breakdown of the VIN plate.

I think the engine number follows the pattern of XX 12345 (i.e, 2 letters 5 numbers) but could anyone tell me where it is located.

P.S, I wont get a log book untill the car passes a VIC, so please dont tell my to check the logbook, and the KA never came with an owners manual.

Thanks in advance
