Question fiesta 6000cd radio

I have a 2002 (old shape) Fiesta with a 6000cd radio. After driving for about 1/2 hour the radio loses its tuning and I get a lot of interference and loss of radio programme. This happens on all wavebands and all presets and cannot be manually corrected by manual tunung. The CD quality playback is not affected. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Re: fiesta 6000cd radio

Hi
Try disconnecting the aerial cable from the back of the radio unit and measure continuity between the pin in the middle and the outer part. It should have no continuity. I've found a few Fiestas with radio reception problems that had a broken piece inside the base of the aerial and this was causing the outter & inner parts of the coaxial cable to contact each other. To access the base of the aerial, on the roof from inside the car, you'll have to remove the interior light assy to get to it. If this is ok it'll be a radio unit problem. cheers
