Thinking about getting a couple of the ford original accessories fitted onto my Fiesta LX next time I go in for a service.
Has anyone got these or have any thoughts on them (perhaps cheaper/better alternatives) -
Scuff Plates for 3 door ~AUD$175
Headlamp guards ~AUD$80.00
Mud spats front ~AUD$80.00 (rear ones also $80 - wonder what they look like)
Are the scuff plates glued on or bolted on? If glued on can they be removed reasonably easily?
I know mud spats are not compatible with the styling kits but I won't be doing anything that extreme to the exterior styling anytime in the near future - basically just want to reduce the amount of chips I may get around the bottom section of the doors.

i have thought about the scuff plates and mud splats aswell (only for the front) mainly because the lil car has a very bad tendency to get alota crap spat up the side of the car. personaly the mud guards dont look the best but probably a good idea to prevent alot of stone chips.
Regarding the scuff plates (they look really nice) im unsure about how the ford ones are set up but i know that momo make scuff plates and they use a sorta double sided tape to stick on. so they could be removed with a little effort. just ask ford to order some in and then have a look at them. if you dont like them then dont buy them.

I have the silver fiesta lx - I also plan to "darken" the windows with some nice tinting - see what specials there may be in the winter time when the tinting business is presumably a little slow. Having said that the car will have a black and silver theme happening and theres a chance those mud spats may look alright - maybe. The main reason for getting them is as you say - protecting the paint work. If they are a simple bolt on bolt off job then there is no harm done if/when I decide to replace them with something else.
I really need some nice scuff guards - I have a nasty habit of scuffing my shoes there and leaving a black mark. I think the scuff plates would look quite nice and I'm betting they're easier to clean.
I think the headlight protectors would look alright - I have some on my other car and I believe they have served their purpose - mind you the other car is a four wheel drive and is more likely to have it's headlights damaged. Having said that tho the headlights on the fiesta are HUGE - I don't think it would hurt any to put some guards on :)
Ive done the Mudspats..... i had the front and rear, but the rear of the car has hardly any overhang, so the rears came off, as they stood out tooooo much and didnt cover all the 195 tyres.... pretty stupid. The fronts dont look too bad, but they protect the door, so that is the main idea in keeping them

Hmm good to know - wasn't too sure about the back either - might just go with the fronts and see how it goes. Wouldn't have a piccy of the car with them on? :)

Thanks Teki - I'll go for the two sets i think. Mind if I ask how much? On the ford site they're listed at AUD$80 per pair but I'm not sure if any extra costs will be factored in.
Pretty expensive I think but I would like to know there is a little protection from stone chips near the wheel arches - particular at the front.
Mitch_lx: Silver inside door handles? Where did you see those, on the ghia or some aftermarket site?
