Fiesta Mk3 Upgrades!!

hi everyone,

right thing is i have got a 1.1 lx fiesta mk3 done alot of work to bodywork and now looks wicked, but as you may guess under the body is still the same old standard 1.1 lx.

what im after is just some general pointers of what i can do to improve the handling, any ideas to boost power without engine change.

Thanks for the help and hope that someone has some ideas

peter

Re: Fiesta Mk3 Upgrades!!

i would say for handerling the obvious lower the suspension.
not sure what you meant by body work, has it been restored or has it got skirts and spoilers and stuff on it, if you put spoilers etc on it i take it you have alloys on it, only reason i ask because if it has the standard steel wheels and if they are not low profile tyres then putting a set of alloys or 14" steel wheels with low profile tyres on it would make a difference.

as for the engine mods the cheapest way to get more power is to put a bigger engine in, the adverts for mods you see claiming XXBHP increase is normally quoting this increase if you have other mods already fitted this would end up costing thousands to get less BHP than a bigger engine.
only cheap mod i can think of that may give a little more power is to remove the CAT and get a bypass pipe for the exhaust i dont know what difference this would make on a 1.1 tho also the CAT would need to be put back on at MOT time as i guess it wont pass the emission test with no CAT.

only other thing is make the car as light as pos. the more weight you carry the slower the car will be. on another forum i use for my other car some of us have taken our cars on track and some of the lads had taken most of the interior out of the car to make the car lighter i couldn't be arsed with that so i only took the spare wheel out.

Re: Fiesta Mk3 Upgrades!!

thanks for the advice. yeh it has a full bodykit, have changed wheels currently running 15's on lows, has made car nicer to drive but still got s**t loads of body roll. am after a set of adjustables but cannot lower a great deal due to height of skirts, need to stiffern it without too much drop if you get what i mean.

i know what u mean about bhp but engine is running carb (early model) without cat. does anyone know of anywhere i can get a new set of jets for the carb from??

thanks for the help
