Fiesta Zetec 04 Remote Locking ?

Hi

I've just bought an 04 Fiesta Zetec & was surprised to find it didn't have remote locking, as the 10yr old car it replaced did.

I can buy a generic remote system from ebay for around £30, has anyone done this? They look fairly easy to wire.

Are there are insurance implications?

I've also got only 1 key, so need more. From the threads I've read it seems going to a dealer is easiest, I've already asked a dealer about a remote option & they weren't interested in taking my money, I'd like the Ford option, as I can then have the key & remote as 1 unit. Has anyone succeded in getting Ford to fit an upgrade?

Thanks

Re: Fiesta Zetec 04 Remote Locking ?

how about putting a aftermarket alarm system on the car one that does remote locking. if you put a thatcham approved alarm on it, it may reduce your insurance by a very very small amount.
I'm sure this would be a cheaper option than ford putting remote locking on the car.

Re: Fiesta Zetec 04 Remote Locking ?

I think the cheapest way to do it is via ebay, £50 should buy a self install kit & they say it only takes an hour, perhaps a bit more for first timers!

I'd prefer the Ford kit as I need new keys anyway & having the remote fob integrated into the key is much neater, but as I said Ford don't seem keen to take my money.

I put reversing sensord on my MPV, it took a full day, but cost £30 from ebay instead of £200+, so I expect that's the way I'm going.

As we also have remote gate & garage doors I might look into an all in 1 remote for the whole lot, in which case the integrated key isn't an issue.
