Arrow Fiesta Zetec Engines

Hi,
First thread so be nice!
I have just purchased a fiesta 1.25 zetec on a 99 W reg, the engine was knocking so i gave the car to a friend of mine to repair: new big end, conrods, rings, camshaft, gaskets etc.
He starts it after spending a few days sorting it out, and it starts knocking again: he made an error of not checking the oil pick up which was the reason the motor failed in the first place!! Annoying as its cost me a few quid. Anyway, his way of rectification is for me to supply a second hand motor and for him to fit it for zero pence. And my questions are these:
Can i fit a 1.4 or 1.6 zetec motor from a fiesta into my 1.25? And if i can, is it easy and what mods do i need to make? Would i require a 1.4 or 1.6 ecu? And what differences are there between a 1.25 and 1.4 zetec, as i have been offered a 1.4 with gearbox and all ancillaries for cheap.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Fiesta Zetec Engines

dont know about the engine, but the ECU i guess would need to be swapped with the Dona cars as the ECU has a code on it either letters or sometime a word printed where the connector plug into it, not sure what the differences are between different codes on the ecu cos you can have two identical spec cars and they could have different ecu codes.
also the PATS goes through the ECU so if replacing the ECU you will need to either have your keys reprogrammed or the keys and possibly the sensors from the Dona car and of course all the locks.

Re: Fiesta Zetec Engines

1.7 Puma engines fit in direct I think, obviously changes will nedd to be made too though, it would be very quick if you had that. Recomment breake upgrade though to if you go that big.

Also ECU and other items to consider
