Ford Dolls Up Fiesta's Image
Monday 16th June 2003
Auto Express
Can you guess the movie? This summer, Ford is running magazine adverts which use Action Man-style figures to recreate scenes from famous films - and this is the first one.
Revealed exclusively to Auto Express, each ad is for the Fiesta Black, and this one shows a scene from 1992's cult classic Reservoir Dogs. It features a gang of thieves and their bloody search for the i-formant after a diamond heist goes badly wrong. The crooks were known by colours - Mr Blonde and Mr Pink were two of them, but there was never a Mr Black!
It took four weeks to make the picture up, from building the tiny set to producing the costumes and getting the lighting just right. The picture was actually shot in the photographer's house, and only the car is real - it was snapped in a studio and then dropped into the picture. The advert will appear in men's lifestyle magazines next month.
A Ford spokesman said: "These publications have a strong 17-26 age range readership who would love to drive a Subaru Impreza, but can't afford to. They still want some-thing stylish, and the Fiesta Black fits the bill." A second advert featuring Barbie and Ken will be released later, and is aimed at women buyers.
