We own a Ford KA 1997 1.3 which is suffering from a bad stalling problem.

Problem started last summer whilst on holiday in Spain and France. Car stalls when changing down gears and coming off the gas to change down. Obvious to say that when driving around in town, it is a real pain.

We had the car serviced in February this year (60,000 mile service). Plugs were changed etc. and problem went away for 4 months until June of this year when it raised it's ugly head again (exactly the same problem).

The problem does not occur when you start the car from cold, the car normally has to be running for say 30 minutes before things happen. My husband thinks there might be block in the fuel line but if anyone has suffered this problem before with a KA, any advice would be gratefully received. We can then contact a garage with suggestions to try.

this has happened to me twice. the problem is a sticking throttle control valve, the small horizontal cylinder above your spark plugs on the air duct, remove it and clean it up. it will last another year or two before it needs replacing
