Re: Ford KA Headlight Setup

Hi
You need a headlamp alignment tool to do this properly. If your car is fitted with a Headlight Levelling switch (on the dash) it must be set to the "0" position before you start. Then the measuring screen on the aligner tool must be set to the following specs: X=12cm/10m=0 degrees41minutes=1.2%. This means that roughly every 10 meters the focal centre of your headlight (low beam) will drop 12cm. If you don't have access to an aligner, pick a wall and park your car right up against it. Turn the headlights on and the Levelling switch to "0". Mark where the centre of low beam is and make another mark 12cm straight down from the first one (for each side), then move your car back 10m and line up the beams with the second mark. It is very important that the surface you are using to move your car is completely flat. Hope this helps, cheers

Re: Ford KA Headlight Setup

Did you have to remove the bumper and wing to replace the headlights? I broke a bit off the back of the near side headlight when I replaced the bulbs, and was wondering how difficult a job it was to replace the whole unit.

Re: Ford KA Headlight Setup

Hi mate
You don't have to remove the whole bumper, just loosen the corner you're working on (left or right) and you'll be ok. Undo the bolt and the four clips that hold the wheelarch cover to the guard and the screws that holds the radiator grille in place and you should be able to access the bolts that hold the unit in place. cheers
