My son has a 2001 ford ka, it started to run lumpy and the engine management warning light came on. Had it checked out on code reader and it came up with ignition coil fault. I have replaced the ignition coil and the problems still there. I have found that there is not spark on cylinders 1 and 4. I have checked the HT leads and they are okay. I have been told it could be crank sensor.
Crank sensor fault would give no spark to any cylinder- unfortunately if a misfire is allowed to go on for a long time, not only can it blow the coil-pack but also the PCM.
Thanks for that info, car is currently parked up, even though my son keeps bothering me to let him take it out.
Over weekend i'm checking wiring to coil pack, plug that goes into pack has three wires from what I can see, just wondering if one has broken, if thats why no spark just to two of four ht leads
Did the radiator coil have nothing to do with the problem? My brother has the same problem, but with a Volvo, he even took a new Volvo ignition coil for it, but didn’t fix the problem. We weren’t able to figure out ourselves, so we decided to take it to the mechanic. Fortunately, they were able to fix it. The unfortunate side was, I wasn’t able to know what caused the problem. So I guess I could just relate the conclusion with that of yours.
