Can anyne help please, my KA has just had a service, and i was told the the engine sump was corroded, as I know nothing about cars at all apart from putting petrol in and checking the tyres, I am at a loss, ( please dont laugh too much will you) It is a Y reg KA. My question is, is this normal and how much is this going to set me back, I cant afford to be ripped off.

The sump is the main engine cover on the underside which holds the engine oil. Rust is quite common, and if left will eventually corrode through and oil will start to leak. You're looking at about £150 ish to do the job.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply, i have booked it into the garage on friday they quoted me £169 so with what you said it doesnt seem to be a bad price, thankyou

Do it yourself !
The sump and gasket will only cost you about £40 and you'll need some oil.
It's a doddle.
