New to this forum, i have been trying to get the gear surround on my fiesta removed and not sure how to go about it. Order the aux input off the net and got my dealer to install it for free on last service but theres a problem with the quality. I wanted to check there was not a bad connection but dont know how to remove the gear surround.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Just got it out myself, wasnt sure but just pulled it and it clips out. Got the audio problem fixed with the aux lead. The garage didnt fit it right but now i
cant fit the connection back in the hole they drilled beside the gear box. Its the part that the 3.5mm jack goes into, i cant get it seperated. One problem after another, now i just have it coming out a side vent, looks fine apart from the hole........

The aux socket just slides apart, you need a pick or similar; on assembly you'll see that when pushed back together the socket expands into the hole in the gear lever surround.

Yeah i can see what im meant to do with it, i know it should slide apart to allow the top of it to fit the whole and then slide back together to expand into the shape of the hole. Problem is it will not seperate again at all........its drivin me mad. I know i shouldnt really have to force it, tried for ages today and gave up. Might give it a go later.
Is there catch or release on it, i dont think there is but something is stopping it coming apart therefore i cant put it back where its meant to be!

Any suggestions appreciated.
