Ka 1999 1.3 Endura engine sump swap

Hi , i need to change my sump on this car as it has rusted as normal . I am converting the car to aircon at the same time and so will be fitting a aluminuim sump in place of the tin type. The haynes manual says to remove the ally type sump (with aircon as the compressor mounts on the sump) you need to remove the gearbox and flywheel in order to get to the end two sump bolts. This does not seam to be the case with the tin sump. Please can any one help with if i must remove the flywheel / gearbox or can i get a thin socket to these bolts ?


Thanks in advance as i plan to start my aircon retrofit as soon as my parts are delivered as my olt tin sump is leaking !

I am new to this forum as this is my run around car as my weekend cars are a 95 XJR & 98 540itouring and miss the aircon but love the fuel saved in the Ka and it is fun to drive.

Yes the Ka's great on fuel and super for whizzing around in, also resale values are some of the best around.
On Fords official manual it says 'aluminium oil pan is similar' so I'd take off the steel one, and if you can get to all the bolts then ignore Mr Haynes and go for it. 1/4 drive sockets and extensions are great for hard-to-reach components.
