Hi guys,
Sorry for 'asking' on my first post. But been refered here by a friend.

I have a 1998 Ford KA2
When i lock the car the central locking motors make their usual noise and lock the car but straight away unlock it again.

The car will not lock.

Anyone come across this before ?

This is called 'cycling'- does it happen from both door locks?

Yes happens from both sides.

More than likely one of the door lock motors. You need to remove both door panels, pull the plug off one motor at a time, shut both doors and see if the system now operates correctly from the other door. If it does, the one thats disconnected should be the problem one. If the door looms are all ok, suspect motor.

Hi there. My wifes has just started doing the opposite. you unlock it and it locks again. When you manage to open the door the lock keeps moving until you shut the door. Since we had the car you could never open it from the drivers side only lock it. So have to unlock from passenger side which now means with the locks playing up you have to get in from the passenger side. Is this cycling also??

My mum's mk4 5 door fiesta does the same, unlocks and locks again but it is only an intermitant fault. When it happens she usually gets in through the boot lol
