I am having a problem with my daughters 53 plate KA. It was fine, but when she went to drive it after work it would not rev up, it starts OK. I disconnected the MAF and it drives reasonably. I took it to my usual garage who put it on their computer but could not find any problem. They tried a new Lamda but that did not work. Can any one help please?

Er, howsabout a MAF?

The garage said that it could possibly be the MAF, but were unsure because they could not find any fault with it. Also they did not want to get a new one and fit it only to find that it was not the problem and also saving me about £120 if it did not work. I just wondered if anyone had the same problem so that I could be sure. Thanks

I seem to have made a slight mistake. It is not a 53 plate it is a S reg. oops

Most times if power is restored by disconnecting the MAF, then thats what's at fault. Why not get one from a breakers instead.

Hi,

I also have a problem with my sisters KA, its making a knocking sound when you start the car and also when its revved, it also seems to be overheating in the oil area and is taking around a litre of oil a week with no visable leak!! Can anyone help please?

Sorry forgot to mention that its an "R" reg

Thanks for the help. It was the MAF sensor. I replaced it and now it is back to normal.
