Right well i hope this helps:
Refer to the picture mate. This is what the engine looks like without the airbox. I believe you will need a custom pipe in order to fit a Pipercross cone straight to engine by-passing the airbox. A k&n cone can be bought that will be fitted without the airbox, but the pipercross, as far as i'm aware may not. Somebody pls tell me different if the p/crss can be fitted as a kit without the need for custom pipework. The blue writing and blue circle is where the old cold air feed would have feed into the airbox, but as the box has been removed, a cone filter would have to be fitted where the red text and circle is.
