My Fiesta's Heater

Hi!

I am not sure if this is the correct forum, but I was hoping someone could help me with my Fiesta please :)

Basically, the heater in my 1996, mk fiesta does not work. If i turn the fan on, it blows as normal, but when i turn the heater knob to red, no hot air comes out.

Any suggestions? thanks. :D

Re: My Fiesta's Heater

Hello,

I have not had my Fiesta for a long time (and all it does is give me trouble!) but I had a similiar problem with the Peugeot 205 that I had before and all it was was a fuse problem. It would work on and off and hot air was a privilege! My mechanic back in Belgium replaced the fuse, so maybe try checking it out...

Re: My Fiesta's Heater

Most times it's the heater valve, see my reply in the Ka post on similar fault.

Re: My Fiesta's Heater

i had this exact problem and it was a valve that had gone just by the windscreen (accessable from the bonnet). didnt cost much to replace at all

Re: My Fiesta's Heater

This will sound stipid but try hitting the plastic under the glove compartment. It worked on my Peugeot 405!

Re: My Fiesta's Heater

i agree with fordtec, it sounds like the heater valve.

you could test it by removing it and replacing it with two small bits of copper pipe the heater will then be on all the time even if you select cold on your controls it will still come out warm (of course you need the engine warm before it comes out warm)

the heater valve is just in front of the windscreen wiper mechanism if you look at the pic below the red circle is on the two pipes that connect to the heater valve and the other side of the valve you have another two pipes that go into the bulk head of the car to the heater matrix.

just be careful when removing the pipes that none of them breaks the plastic pipes on the heater valve because the plastic goes brittle over time, this is what i done and i had a bit of plastic floating about in the coolant system which kept blocking the heater valve and caused overheating.
