New Ford Fiesta Vs New Volkswagen Polo

The verdict

Both these superminis push the boundaries of small car design to new heights. VW's Polo is a delightful package – beautifully built, comfortable over long distances and refined at all speeds. It rides exceptionally well and has the sort of grown-up feel that makes it a genuine alternative to a Golf or Passat.

Trouble is, the new Fiesta is an equally fine supermini. Having improved interior space, Ford is now punching at the same weight as its key competitors. It matches its German rival's practicality, performance and build quality but also offers a level of driveability and agility that has recently become a Ford trademark. The Polo is a fine car but, if you're looking at the package as a whole, the Fiesta edges it.

Do we need it

The question is does Ford Australia need the new Fiesta to compete with the New Barina or will the KA do???????????

The above comparison is from autoexpress

Yep absolutely, they need the Fiesta to win the small car market. The ford KA doesn't cut it in my opinion. Shapes abit iffy and power is well abit errrrrrr as well.

Agreed!
We need these top notch euro cars to compete with the Dark Side. If they can do it, why can't Ford.
Ford Oz needs to be known for more than just the Falcon. Doesn't matter how good the AV's going to be, if we haven't got a strong line up over all, Ford still will not regain market leadership.
Russell.

Add the Mondeo to that list as well, and give it to Tickford to work their magic on. A Tickford Mondeo would rock.

The mondeo would be good mate, but did you ever see how much of a sales flop it was here in Aus? Well, it didn't help it's case that the engine was piss weak, but the bloody thing sold for the same price or more than a falcon, in which people thought was a rip-off, and rightly so. I see a Mondeo competing against the Holden vectra and toyota camry, falcon is the large rwd sedan and mondeo beeing the smaller fwd sedan would sit nicely too in out line up. Problem is, as our $ sucks arse, it costs alot for them to bring them in, and they have to sell HEAPS for them to even break even, and that's if they are selling at a price very close to falcon.
BTW, does anyone know how much vectra sells for over here?

P.S EL XR6, welcome to the boards mate.
