Question Newbie Oil Question

Hi All,
Ive recently bought a Fiesta Zetec, and after looking under the hood, I need an oil change. After looking through the specs in the manual, im totally confused on which oil to use! Im not sure which brand(Castrol, Shell, etc) and product is the go for best results.

Any help please for the best Engine Oil, Clutch, Trans Fluid, Power Steering and Brake

Thanks heaps

Frank

your local ford dealer can probably sell you genuine oil but ask them if that is a must I know some of the mazda engines got noisy lifters if you didnt put the genuine mazda oil in but generaly its ok to stick in any brand as long as its the correct weight

Re: Newbie Oil Question

I just changed my oil in my Fiesta Zetec. I put in Castrol Synthetic Forumla R

Make sure the grade is 5W-30 oil. And it has to be semi synthetic or full synthetic. Ford use Formula R in the GT engines so it is Ford Approved oil!

Re: Newbie Oil Question

I just changed the oil in my zetec. The Oil filter was only $10.70 direct from ford, and the oil costing $40(Was Castrol Forumla R sythetic 5W-30 like the one above).

The oil filter has extremly difficult to come off and I had to use the whole 5L to get it filled.

Re: Newbie Oil Question

hmm...I had about a litre or less left over...altho I got it serviced by my mechanic (not Ford). Wonder why the oil levels are different??

And after 3,000km on the new oil, it hasn't used a drop of oil!!
