Newbie q?

Just joined dudes need some advise, thanx in advance...

The wife has a 1100 94 fiesta (rings are shot) and i'm wanting ti know if i can fit in a diesel engine i've had a mk2 1600 derv in the past and it was cool.

I've heard the 1600 was a better engine than the later 1800???

I have in mind that i'll need engine, box, exhaust, tank & filler neck) and a bit of wiring for the heatplugs and cut-out anything else?? ...axles, brakes
Plan is i will proberbly by a full car from ebay and make life simpler for myself. Would it be better to get an escort or fiesta donor car?

I have no experience with this car whatsoever so all help is appreciated.
