a nice dusty car

my brother has got a B reg car that has been sitting in his garage for 10 years now! i wounder is it worth me fixing the parts that have presumably siezed up and need replacing or should i just buy a 10 year old car off a stranger that works.

its a 1.3 ford fiesta B reg

if you brought a 10 year old car it may have a few more toys on it like power steering for example but if you are not worried about those things then may be the 23 year old car may be a good find as its getting quite old now and i guess there are not that many of them about now.

i hooked up a battery and tried to see what happened and not much happened... i think its sat there too long now and its had its life time.

The petrol will be pretty naff after that time - so it will really need replaced, as will the filter, and potentially the pipes.

The oil will be in a similar state.

So, really, it will need a full service at least, before you can expect it to run.

Did the engine turn over when you tried to start it?
Even if it never, it could be as simple as a starter motor solenoid being stuck - and a (reasonably soft) wack with a hammer has been known to sort that!
