power steering leak - Ford Forums

hello everyone.

my better half has a Ka and I have had to sort several of the common probs (spark plugs snapping was my personal favourite...) but this power steering fluid leak has got me stumped. I've had the car up and there is red ATF everywhere, cleaned it off, and it looks like it is probably/maybe coming from the pressure regulator above the rack rather than the rack itself.

£25 would buy a new one - is this likely to be the culprit - I can't say for sure it's coming from here (cheaper than a rack).

Any tips or anything I need to know

I take it you mean the pressure switch on the steel line? Not seen one of these go, but seen umpteen racks! Someone needs to be under the car after it's had a good jet-wash and check whilst someone else turns the wheel.

hello

just as closure, i had the ka up on a proper lifter and it was the pressure regulator switch that was leaking.

the rack looks fine (for now) which is a relief.
