Removing door panels on MK4 Fiesta

Hi there,

My Fiesta MK4's passenger side window seems to have come off its roller, which means as im driving the vibrations cause it to fall down! So when you park up you have to push it back up, not great for security.

So i was wondering how do i get the door panels off to put it back on, i found two screws (1 inside the handle and the other in the side pocket) are there anymore? When i do get it off, is it something that i'm going to be able to do with little knowledge of repairs, or is best left to the proffesionals??

Thanks for your help.

Adam

The best thing to do is put down the window on the door - easier to get the weather strip out, then unscrew the two screws in the handle and pocket. You also need to unscrew the wing mirror adjusters buy popping out the little black rounds that cover the screws with a watch screwdriver. As far as I can remember after that the door just needs gently popping away from the door. Try not to tear the foam sound deadening behind it as its a pig to refit otherwise. It might also be a good idea to buy some replacement clips before you do this as I managed to break all but two on one door , they can be had for pence on ebay. I would recommend getting a haynes manaul tho, again these can be picked up for less than £10 on ebay. Good luck!

Re: Removing door panels on MK4 Fiesta

I managed to remove the trim panel with a bit of brute force (and one of the clips detached from the door). However, I couldn't for the life of me manage to get the panel to "clip" back on.

Is there some secret to how this is done or some special tool to use. Looking at how the clips work it just seems impossible!!

Re: Removing door panels on MK4 Fiesta

i have got a problem with my fiesta 2004, the window is slipping and the electric motor isnt making the window go up or down. its making a crashing dieing wining sound when pressing the electric window switch also like the motor is knackered.

I took the main panel interior trim off to reveal the motor, i took this out of the white window mechanism and tried the motor. The motor seemed fine when not tring to put the window up or down ! So i put it back in the mechanism and its makes a crackling sound and doesnt work, sound like there is some sort of clip broke and a bit of plastic is whizz around clogging up the mechanism!

Any I tried to investigate further but i cant remove the black plastic inner door panel the membrane which has a type of gasket type seal behind it that fixes on the door metal if you know what i mean?

I removed the several gold bolts around the edges of the plastic membrane and i can pull it slightly off the metal, but its seems stuck in the middle like some thing else is attached and needs unbolting but i cant see what ?

any help on this inner membrane removal and the problem with mechanism ?
