confused speed limiter?????

fiesta 1.6 mk6 feb 2004,europe:
does anybody knows if there is a speed limiter in the european models?
driving on a highway (5-10% slope) the speed counter just stopped at the 198km/h .
despite slope changed the counter didnt move (if there wasnt any speed limitation it should move 1 or 2 km/h up or down according to the slope).
it could at least show 200!

Re: speed limiter?????

I though they were limited to 180km/h. Not all came with limiters so you most probably just hit the aeroynamic limit. What were you doing at 198km/h anyway? Thats around 5900rpm in 5th isn't?

Re: speed limiter?????

to tell you the truth I dont remember looking the rpm meter.
I was just curious to see how fast can it be(I prefer driving at around 140-150 , costs less and I can keep my license for a very long time!)
It makes wonder that a small car with 1.6 and 100hp doesnt show 200 at the meter (keeping in mind that these meters are not accurate and always present larger values)
and that the rising of the speed stopped suddenly.
who knows...
