I have problem with my Fiesta MK4 1.25 16V 1998. My temperature gauge read cold only when car is 100% cold. After 5 minutes of engine working my gauge go from cold to hot in couple of seconds. Changed engine coolant temperature sensor, changed gauge... But problem is still here.
No i did not check thermstat. Car is not overheating so i was thinking thermostat is ok. Gauge stay on hot and only go down on cold start after couple of hours of rest. I have video. On video car is working for 4-5 minutes and gauge go to max. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOHtBMb32vQ
Only thing I can think of is a dud sensor or wrong one .Some sensors were either colour coded or had temp stamped on them .Could double check correct one fitted .
Thank you for your answers. It is grey one. I buy that in one shop, guy check on pc and say it is for my car. I must be really unlucky to buy wrong sensors.
Had similar problem with a VW years back and it was the wrong sensor supplied ( twice ) .
