a person i know who used to be my friend until i bought my new car (dont ask why he turned on me when i got it, proves he wasnt a mate in the first place!!) he owns a 1998 civic hatch CXI with this motor..

Model: 1996-up Civic CX/DX/LX
Specs.: 1590cc, 16 valve SOHC, 9.4:1 compression
Power: 106 bhp @ 6,200 rpm
Torque: 103 ft.-lbs. @ 4,500 rpm
Redline: 7,100 rpm

considering they weigh probly just short of 1 tonne, would you think my fiesta would thrash it? im guessing if both cars were stock then id trash no doubt, but he has headers,2.5in cat, 2in pipe off the cat then goes to 2 1/4 for rest of the exhaust (sounds like bollocks) i think duratec would give me an advantage...
what do you guys think??????? :)

whats with the 2 inch piping in the middle of a 2.5 into a 2.25 pipe?
wouldnt that just restrict the flow of the gasses?

yeah hes an idiot. lets idiot mechanics talk him around... my theory with N/A small engines is that u get an exhaust and make it all one size

haha if i got one for my fiesta id probly get 2 inch all the way

. but his is weird. he has a xforce cannon on aswell for the ultimate type R-icer look. sounds shit.

You should be able to. The extra torque of the fiesta will pull you through.

I doubt it those civics have 30mm inlet valves and a better gearbox than most fords!

Whats the CXI?? do u mean CRX or SIR?? If so they've prolly got 33mm inlets!

lol. cxi is the base model civic here in aus. CXI, GLI, VTI, VTIR, Type R.
what i have noticed about the civics is that they dont have a noticable powerband, and they have really long gear ratios.
the fiesta has pretty darn short ratio gearbox.. variable valve and a good powerband. i think id have the upper hand.

I think you're right about exhaust sizing, even my Focus only runs a 2 inch all the way through. It started losing power down low with anything larger.

The reason the Ford vs Honda debate is so big in the states is the VTEC engines on the Honda range, with the Duratec heads, you're taking away the little advantage they gain from that, I know which car I'd have my money on. And it has blue badges on it. If it's a not VTEC Honda engine, say on the base model Civic sedan, then there's no question who would be able to run faster times.
