Very Hot Wheel Discs

Hi all. Just asking for some confirmation. Just bought the wife a KA at weekend (see previous posting) and to my mind the brakes were very poor, hardly anthing but the the pads and discs had been changed two weeks ago. Anyway took car for a spin on a dual carriage way and when I got back passenger side disc was red hot. you could actually smell burning, so booked into garage to have brakes checked and they have said theres nothing wrong with them, so my next thought is wheel bearing. So my question is whats the best way to find out if it is the bearing? I can't hear a noise from it like used to on my xantia. I regret buying it her already.

many thanks in advance

Thumbs up Re: Very Hot Wheel Discs

Hi

Likely cause of the hot wheel is a sticking brake caliper.A few vehicles had similar problems, usually the earlier ones from '96-'02.Or it could be due to a flexi brake hose which has collapsed internally, but this is less common.A wheelbearing would be noisey if it had failed, but it wouldn't give off any heat.
Hang in there, your ka will serve you well!!

I agree with kingscarratt, most likely a sticking caliper.
