"Soft furnishings are in for the hard sell at Ford, Auto Express can reveal. The UK's biggest-selling car firm wants to redesign the Fiesta.
Company styling chief Chris Bird has admitted that he would like the hatchback to be 'more warm and cuddly, both inside and out', and he is recruiting fresh design talent from outside the automotive industry to help, including a top snowboard tester who will contribute to the style.
Talking exclusively to Auto Express, Bird said: "We have got the proportions of the car right, which is a number one priority, but we need to add warmth." He also admitted that he admired many of the details on the Nissan Micra, especially some of the interior treatments and plastic finishes. "We have to go away and find alternative ways of treating the cabin," he added."
