Hi there everyone. New to the forum as I've just bought my wife a KA as a runaround for her. It's a 98 R-reg with a couple of niggles which I'm hoping someone can help me with.

Firstly the driver's side door will lock the cental lock but not unlock it.

Secondly the bloke I bought it off changed the front pads and discs and you can tell by the copper grease on the back of the pads, however the brakes hardly slow you down and the discs get red hot. I touched the disc and it burnt my finger. I was thinking maybe siezed calipers but I've spoke to him today and he says the cylinders pushed back OK, so now I'm confused.

And finally, this is just a query. Would this car originally have had remote central locking or just the keys? Also I've only got one key thats looking a little worn. Would Ihave to go to Ford for a new one or can I just go to a normal key cutting place that does advertise cutting car keys?

you sure theyre isnt any grease on the pads itself?

remove them clean them up and gently push the rubber seal on the piston and rub some oil onto it just to make sure theyre free enough then if they are seized it will help them unseize

it depends what model theyre arnt many of the KAs i have came accross that are remote central locking and theyre is a chip in the key so im pritty sure would have to use use ford dealers for a new one because if you just get one cut it will only work the doors and not ignition lol

I'd be checking the rears, it's possible the fronts are doing all the work and overheating. Does the door lock work ok with the key that isn't worn?
