hey.. i wanted to get an opinion from you guys.
im restoring an XL... unfrotunately the door skins are poo and need changing. i was thinking of decking the car out in checkerplate.

what do you think? this picture is just a quickie. if i was to do it i'd also do the pedals with the same thing and possibly run it along the dash to clean up the hole for the radio.

i actually think it looks alright. probably easier than getting good condition door trims for that year.

Yes and No... It looks ok-ish like that...but thats gonna be a lot of checkerplating - how good is it gonna look with all that checkerplate?

haha.. yeah.. maybe i just love the stuff too much. it might make it look a bit tooooo hotroded-up.

To be honest i see way too many rice burners with chequer plating all over them and i have to say "no" myself. I think it can be used in a very minimal way, but all too often it looks cheap and nasty. Why not look at trimming it with a nice suede or similar material... make it clean and neat as opposed to hot rodded up!

well i guess id put it everywhere and modify the car to not have bumpers.. thanks for the suede idea.. might do that.
