Hi all.

I’m getting a new inlet manifold for my Windsor soon and I wanted to paint it before the install. As some of you know I have already had the rocker covers and the plenum painted with a deep red (one deeper than the colour of the car) and I’m rather happy with it but for the new manifold I wanted something a little different. I was thinking something along the lines of a gloss silver (silver with clear) or a matt black to match my alternator with is painted similarly. Perhaps even a gloss black.

I was also leaning towards redoing the rocker covers in the same paint as the exterior so that it matches but I’m not sure if that will be pointless given the unfinished engine bay paint job that these cars left the factory with.

Anyway I’ve got some pics here of my car during various stages of my ownership. You can get a reasonable idea of the burgundy exterior and of what the current paintjob looks like. Although the manifold will look different to my current one I would just like an idea of what it would look like with a black of silver manifold with the current rocker cover colour or with the ford burgundy rocker covers and a black or silver manifold. If you have any other ideas please feel free to include them also.

Could anyone considering giving this a go let me know as I've just received the stuff today and I'd like to start painting tonight or maybe tomorrow. If I know I've got some photoshops coming I'll hold off for a bit.

seano14, I love that black one!!! That colour you've chosen specifically is almost like a deep gun-metal grey and frankly it turns me on!

tibbo, you've sure got a thing for the blue but I must admit it looks better when you see a photoshop of it than when I pictured it mentally. My first impression was that it just doesn't match the car. My second impression was "clevo wannabe"!

Do you think the rockers covers should be done in the same colour as the inlet? I may look a little miss-matched otherwise. I'd like to see some burgundy efforts too, perhaps burgundy rocker covers with seano's grey inlet!

Ok everyone here is an update.

I've gone with a silver which I love! The manifold under the sprint decal is smooth and emblem worthy. I've included some photos of the upper and lower in silver and the black highlight on the top of the upper. What I wanted was thoughts on how suited the black is. I was thinking it would look better done in the maroon that the rocker covers are done in. What do you think? I think it would highlight the ghia badge and be more suited in the engine bay. Additionally, which ghia badge do you think looks better? I personally like the one on the left which is painted silver to match the manifold. The actual badge on the right looks a little out of place. Could someone please photoshop the black bit in the same colour as my rocker covers?
