Pshop how to please

I am doing some web work for a mate ( for nix) and need to know how to do the following if possible please
He has an ok picture of his work van and we need to pluck just the van from the picture for publishing on his web , can someone please explain what and how as I have not used pshop for ages ( Im more a nix guy these days )

I found this tutorial a while ago. It uses the photoshop filter called extract.
