Question 1/4 times??

hi all,

i am alittle confussed, being a drag n00b, and i have a few questions.

firstly i ran a 16.4 (with a reaction time of 1.3 sec, long story - read and laught below). now that is pretty dissappointing considering the mods i have done but i am hoping that it was due to my first ever run, tell me i am right?

when does the clock start counting (on green or when you start moving).

i am confident that i can do a better time as i was on the rev limiter for the last 30m of the track and my shit start.

-=long story=-

i was racing a mate (tx3 turbo awd - i won yay) and being both first timers we didn't realise what we were doing and when we couldnt see each others lights we were put off (i thought he had jumped the start and he thought similar) - so yeah laught away.

but i had a great time - except i only got one run - but i will be there next time.

ben

Re: 1/4 times??

The clock starts counting afteryou break the beam where you line up. So you could sit on the line for half an hour if you wanted and still do a 16.4. Thats why the hypo turbo cars with trans brakes sit there waiting to get a bit of boost before they go and still do 12 ect passes. If you were on the rev limit on the last 30m why didnt you change gear!! lol

My first run I was really nervous. After that its just so much fun!

Yeah a RT of 1.3 is a bit slow but doent affect your times.

Only thing itll affect is if you race a car who gets the same time but has a better RT he'll techniclly win the drag.

Re: 1/4 times??

well the clock starts ticking as soon as you leave the beam. Usually you need to put the foot down when the last amber light lights up, that will give you a better reaction time coz the car starts to move almost right on when the light turn green. Ive never taken my car down the drags but my mates have and thats what they tell me.

Re: 1/4 times??

Sounds like with those mods you should be able to get a high 15 with a bit of practise. Keep at it. :s5

Re: 1/4 times??

don't know what your mods are big ben but I have a series 1 EB GL, auto, stock apart from 15 mags with 225 rubber and MPFI conversion.

I got 16.69 for my best run. Practise more and you will get better also did you leave the automatic in econ or power mode? Preferably change the gears your self...running on the limiter would of hurt your time, change up a gear!
