Courtesy of our friends at the LS1 forum, here are the results from MOTOR's latest testing. For you BA XR8 lovers the results were excellent leaving the VZ SS, Monaro and SV8 behind. The XR6T unfortunately suffered from the 40 degree heat during testing at Eastern Creek.

Those are some akward times espcially for the holdens boys. I know it comes down to driver and weather conditions but a 16.28 for the SV6? the best ive seen is 15.1. BA XR8 13.99? what did they do to pull a quick time like this? Overall quite surprising in fact!

The Holden cars as well as the turbo suffered terribly in the heat, as it didn't appear to effect the BOSS powered cars at all. Even on the dyno's the GT out muscled the LS2 models while they slowly lost more and more power in the heat, while the GT gained.
I would imagine the alloy block of both the LS1 and LS2 engines played a part in this. The said the XR8 was the fastest one they had driven, but the first time out in the 6 speed. With previous 5 speed models due to the gearing they had to shift into 4th just before the 400m line, which always hurt the times. MOTOR always claimed that if that didn't happen the XR8/GT would get better times. I guess they were right!
The XR6T turbo also had a dud version of the 6 speed box which didn’t help its times either. The SV6’s initially had some pace in much earlier testing soon after launch, but since that time many others (other mags, journo’s etc) have struggled to obtain the same pace and even claims of it being little improvement over the previous model are now being made.
Geez that kind of puts a different perspective on things. Gets your head scratching thats for sure but surely any ford man would be impressed with that especially for the xr8. I wonder though if its a one of thing for ford?
On the other hand for the Holden boys usually they get some impressive times dont know how heat all of sudden has played a small but critical role for there times. Maybe they just need to open up probably just like the boss motors have but i could be wrong on that.
The XYGTHO H3 with the 3.9 diff ratio did 14.1, so yes the BAGT is the fastest Falcon Ford has ever made (13.8) and the XR8 (13.9) is now the second Quickest Falcon Ford has ever made! The Phase 3 is the third fastest now! Its only taken 33 years but its been worth the wait!
The SV6 auto's are a dog they really are. I line them up and laugh.
I always WOULD GET BEATEN BY could get beaten by a supercharged V6 in VR-VS and could get beaten by a VT-VY but the VZ 190 is a good motor for a lighter manual sedan only. it was a compromise for a world car and its streched and wanting for more torque in a tubby commomodore.
Thanks for the update on the times. Im sure the holden boys will be chokin on their puff wheats and firing letters of to their mates at MOTOR over that one.
A time for an F6 would have been good too (or maybe not) after the bagging they gave it lately?

The T3 is was a great car but if you look on the FPV website or back at Modern Motor tests the best official times the T3's were capable of was a 14.18 second 1/4, thats not as quick as a Phase 3.
The one thing you need to keep in mind with the Phase 3 also is there were 2 gearbox and 3 Diff ratio options, Close ratio and wide ratio box and 3.25, 3.5 and 3.9 diff ratios, a wide ratio box and 3.9 gears would be a quicker car than the close ratio box/3.25 geared car the press tested.
bloody hell have a look at the xr8...top stuff must say im proud of that...completely changes my perspective on the new ba, i alwasy thought the ss munches the xr8 ...wow....better start investing some money hay....
Yep they do! You'll also be happy to know a stock BAGT runs consistant 13.5's at WSID and a stock BA XR8 runs 13.7's! So its all good news for the BA's!
Yeah the XR8s times were good but wasn't the real story the amazing dyno result. I dont have the mag in front of me but if I recall the Gt had 242kws to the clubys 226.
600cc down and 700rpm short and the GT still kicked some LS2 ass now that is impressive you cant tell me those quad cams arn't worth the extra weight.
Actually looking at it I dont know how holden can say the LS2 is good for 297kw at the crank. The SS had approx 210 vs 250 claimed the cluby 226 from 297 claimed.... seems like you dont get much extra from a supposed 50kw?

There is NO way a Stock BA XR8 (MkI or II) will out-accelerate a T3, been there, seen it. Therefore, it stands to reason that a T3 would have run well into the 13's stock, with more testing than they got. (They only ever got tested 2, maybe 3 times max.)

C'mon there CAT600 i know it hurts mate but facts are facts the BOSS XR8 has finally stepped up a gear and now is better value than anything FORD had to offer back then.I just can't comprehend how some of u guys can't get it thru your heads that the new range of falcons outguns anything in the past. The T3 may have tested in the 13's but i doubt it could of managed better than the current FORD line-up. :booty:
Too hard to tell mate it might of had cats back system with standard tips and filter change ect..........I have never seen a T3 here at Calder run in the 13's in stock trim. :hy:
Um...whats the deal with the XT Falcon time? 8.7 to 100 is rather BAD considering the other times that have been squeezed out of it by Motor and NRMA. Any1 know what the problem is? I can understand that it was 40 degC, but that didn't stop the boss motors and the acclaim seems to have only a slightly worse time than the other claims for 0-100. This says the XT was more than a second behind some of its previous times...not good.
They will have 3 soon too.F6 will be another 13 second car aswell.Funny thing is now would you buy a T3 or a XR8 260 especially now that the 260 drives and goes much harder?
