Hi all,

Car: 2004 BA Space CAB ute on LPG / Petrol Dual fuel

As many of you may know they have a tendency to backfire on gas, well accelerating out of a corner yesterday it backfired and then had a nasty loud ticking metallic noise so i pull over turn it off straight away, open the bonnet and the air box has the side blown out of it so im like ok.... try to start it, it starts runs on 6 cylinders but has very bad metallic clunking in the top end.

I have taken it to my mechanic and he says that it sounds like a bent valve, he says if it is it will cost about 2k AUD to repair does this sound right ? how much does a new motor cost generally ....

is it worth running on lfg and risking this happen again the ute only has 133,000km on it approx...

i hate cars :(

for that to happen there must have been some issues with the car
like;
- Too much gas
- Poor spark
- Timing incorrect

repairing a bent valve on a BA should not cost that much mate.

Yes Gas is ok just remember maintain your spark system, If you are like me and do not have the time to fiddle with spark plugs every 30,000kms get Iridium spark plugs (also if you have a slight miss at idle that should also disappear)

We use iridium plugs on AU up to solve most of these issues.
