Flexible crankshafts, eh, what will they think of next...

'The Lima Engine Plant was Ford’s first engine plant in North America to receive its new flexible manufacturing equipment with the installation of a flexible crankshaft machining line in 2001. The line builds cast-iron and steel crankshafts for Ford’s Duratec V-6 built in Cleveland and will be converted to also build crankshafts for Ford’s all-new 3.5-liter V-6.'

I think when they say "Flexible" I think it refers to the production line not the product on it.....

EG, the Flexibilty to machine more than one type of Crank Shaft.

I might be blind, however in amongst the huge slab of press I couldn't find any numbers before the letters kW or Nm...Does anyone have any power/torque figures for this new 3.5 V6?

I just found out the answer to my own question and it maks for very very interesting reading

Taken from here from Automotive News

'Krygier says the new V-6 will make about 245 hp, compared with about 200 hp for the 3.0-liter Duratec V-6. The new engine also is designed to accommodate an increase in displacement to as much as 3.8 liters and possibly up to 4.0 liters, he says."
