Hey everyone,
My ute is due for its 3k service and im taking it in on saturday.
I just wanted to know what gets done on this service, do they change oil etc?

nothing gets changed on the basic service if you want the oil changed you will have to ask for it to be done & there will be a charge for it, apart from that all it gets is a quick lick & a promise lol

Is that the first service?? I cant believe they dont change the oil, what do they do, just stamp the book and thats it??

Im getting my first "service" done on monday. I told them to change the oil and filter for me. Get a service done at least every 6 months not this 1 year or 15k that they say is recommended.

If i decide to change the oil myself after they do the check up on saturday, what type of oil does everyone reccommend i fill it up with? ( xr8)

They don't even do that, well they didn't on mine, I had to take it back and ask for it to be stamped.

I can't speak for anyone else except myself, but what gets done is basically a service except changing the oil and filter. All levels topped up (including oil), book stamped, new sticker, car vacuumed, tyre pressures checked, and a general once over to make sure there no leaks ect. If handbrake requires adjustment (very rare) and even if the customer has not complained it's still done.

As I said I don't know about other dealerships, but I do know what's expected of me and I do the above accordingly. Ford don't quote 0.6 of an hour (approx 36 mins) to stamp a book and scratch your balls for half an hour.

When i had mine serviced at Strapp Ford,i told them to change the oil and filter,they also went right over the car and checked everything and made sure all the bolts were tight etc.
They charged me about $165 for oil & filter.

damn thats expensive for 5-6 l of oil and a filter...... when you can buy it for $20 all up.....
