6.2L Falcon

Hey guys i was just readin the Motor mag up the supermarket and they made mention of Ford US buildin a new 6.2LV8 for the F-Series. They said Ford hadnt confirmed it but suppliers were bidding to provide components for the engine so its near definate. Wouldnt be put into production till 2006 but falcon would most likely recieve it.

I dont know whether this is just old news or what, but i was just curious if anyone new any more details as im pretty interested.

Re: 6.2L Falcon

Talk continues on this subject....

The current Modular engines were developed for FWD application hence the small bore spacing (the engine width is less critical than length). I wonder if the 6.2 is going to be a fresh approach with proper bore spacing to suit the length to width ratio of RWD?

Bottom line, with RWD making a resurgence Ford will ultimately have to invest in a new engine family with the bigger bore spacing - otherwise GM/DC will leave them behind.

Count me in on signing up for anything over 6 litres. That oughta sort out these TQE wannabes.

Agreed. With the LS2 soon to make an appearance under the bonnet of VZ(?), there will be cubes and torque to burn.

The Boss is too small and cannot be made bigger. Looks like the General has outsmarted Ford with the simpler, cheaper and faster engine. Again.

Remeber For was going to use a blower for T3 even though it was not going to run for long, so if Fords stuck down for too long they might just blow the GT/GTP and this will be quite easy and certain if a blowers already been developed on GTHO.

Re: 6.2L Falcon

great to see any improvement for the falcon but i feel we will never catch up to gm . 10 years of no v8 leaves us a whole generation behind.i only know a few ford fans and every joker where i live worships holden .

Re: 6.2L Falcon

Sorry i wasnt aware it had already been discussed in the "Pub". Plus it seems no one actually know anything about the engine iself. Is there anyway i can have this thread deleted? Its just wasting space i thinks.

Re: 6.2L Falcon

A 6.2L TCTM would certainly be an improvement over the midget bore Boss.

Mind you, you don't see any HAD owners complaining about the size of their bore, do you....

I must admit I didn't know it had been designed to fit in FWD cars originally. What car if the Ford range was it supposed to go in that was FWD? I just assumed it was designed for the last generation F150/Expedition.

Re: 6.2L Falcon

Hi guys,

Well, my sources tell me that the new 6.2 litre motor is codenamed "hurricane" and sems funny the Ford Australia registered the name hurricane about 3 months back......so I guess you can read between the lines.
Looks like the dark side might get the kicking they so richly deserve......
