Basically, my car was stolen a while back, and they stole my oil dipstick. Ford don't make the oil dipsticks anymore (But they do for the auto transmission - Wierd hey?) So i was wondering, Is there anyone here with a 1978 Falcon XC that could measure the length of their dipstick for me so i can buy a generic brand???

If you could that'd be great!
Thanks! And hope you can help...
If it's a 4.1lt engine there would be tens of thousands in wrecking yards to obtain one from. Same goes for a cleveland. Plenty of those available in wrecking yards too not as plentiful as the Ford 6 ones though.
Did you know that the ironic part to your story is that they probably used the Dipstick to start your car?? That is an old trick that Car thieves use to start 6 Cylinder XC to XF Falcons and maybe even series I and II EA Fords. They usually break in with Packaging Tape etc...Pop your Bonnet and rip out the Dipstick, and in many cases the Car can be started with it.You should check that its not under your seat or something??
Mate you can get plenty of aftermarket oil dipsticks from most car speciality shops. Other than that as already said, I'd try your luck at a wrecker. They aren't that hard at all to come by, I found looking for the transmition dipstick to be 10 times harder than getting an oil one.
My local wrecker is full of 6 cylinder Falcons from XC on. When I broke my Cleveland one I bought a chrome one for $10. I compared the markings to the old one and they were identical.
