ABS light on BA XT sedan

Hi
When I brake often at slow speeds (ie parking), the ABS light comes on and won't go off until I completely turn the car off and then start it again. It will then stay off until I next brake at slow speeds (slower than walking speed)....it is worse after a long drive (60km)

Any ideas whats wrong and how to fix it?
thanks

Could be dirty wheel speed sensors or some shit stuck in between the tone wheel. Have you had brake shudder and your discs machined? If so theres a good chance that they didn't clean the swarf off from the machine and its found it's way between the tone wheel and ABS sensor.

Re: ABS light on BA XT sedan

I've had the brake shudder fix and the pads have also beed replaced...so it could be that....the ford brakes are really starting to annoy me, is there anyway to get rid of the squealing noise they make every time I touch them?

When this happends again, If you can get to a dealer with the light still on, dont turn the car off, and get them to do a test, it will tell them whats going on.....

Re: ABS light on BA XT sedan

sbutler it won't exactly tell you whats going on. When a self test with the WDS is performed, it will only direct you to what area is of concern. However, if he has a case where swarf from the disc machine has clogged up his ABS sensor, it will tell you exactly which sensor is at fault. I'm betting if that's the case then it will be a build up of swarf.
