Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

Yeah thats true!!

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!rb_content.pv_display_vehicle?vehicle_id=1999742&current_rec=6&total_rec=11&sort_type=&price_min=75 00&price_max=20000&make_id=6&model_id=17&badge_id=20521&state_id=7&search_distance=25&year_min=1999

I like the look of this car, is the AU Forte II an ok car as well?
Basically your just suggesting to stay away from the AU Forte series I??? And its better off going for the AU II??

Cheers once again
Anyone elses advice is more than welcome..

Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

The fairmonts are good cars, when you take them for a drive get up to speed then just let it cruise for a few secs then boot it again see if there is any slip in the gear box or diff clunk - my trans died right after I traded it in, those were the signs. Also have a good look at the climate control and trip LCDs but don't worry too much as you can have them fixed for about $85

Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

Farimont99 do you think this would apply to any of the Fords i take for a test drive? Its a good idea, i wouldnt have a clue what to look out for with Fords, so thanks for the advice!!

I think it'll be a wise decision to get one of those RACV checks once i've found the car i really want!! What do you guys think??

Cheers

Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

Yes that would apply to all falcons, well any car really. Don't bother with RACV they are shite unless you are lucky and they send a good bloke around. Get it checked by a mechanic you know and trust or have been refered to.

Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

an XR isn't out of the question, if you have the time look at the auctions etc and you just might get lucky

Re: Advice on buying a AU Falcon

You think? An AU XR6 for 15k?
I'll definately keep my eye out for one...
But then if there was one in my price range, you'd probably have to question its condition??
