Advice for minor fix and paint, drivers door AU Falcon

I've got a small 'gash' on the bottom corner of my drivers door (caused by a power tool) the gash is about the width of a 5c piece and 1-2mm deep. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice for fixing it (bogging it up?) and whether I could do that and then touch it up with some touch up paint. Is it a good idea to fix and paint it this way, or would I have to get a panel beater to fix the gash and spray paint the bottom half of the door.

I've attatched pics, my car is an AU Falcon with metallic paint.

The damage area is pretty small but if you know its there its a real pain, as the bottom of the gash catches light and it really stands out. The paint is in excellent condition on the car so Id rather not get it re-painted if I dont have to.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
